How I discovered the real secret to long-term weight loss. It`s not about going on a diet or to the gym.

As a weight loss therapist, I always focus on what is effective and actually works to help people achieve their weight loss goals. So when I set out to create some brand new weight loss therapies. I wanted to create something which would actively promote easy and long-term weight loss. I decided to look at the bigger picture and focus on those who lost weight easily and kept it off.  This would not be not short-term weight loss where people would lose a few pounds and put it back on in a month.
I first noticed that my most successful weight loss clients were the ones who made small lasting changes. These clients saw the changes as a new lifestyle and not just a temporary fix or going on a diet. They were the people who wanted to change their lives and not just drop a few pounds before they went on holiday.
Quite simply they did not see weight loss as a quick fix but approached it with a view to making a long-term and lasting change.
So I set about writing this brand new weight loss system based on my most successful client's experiences that had lost weight after visiting me. What I discovered was quite incredible and had a lasting effect, but not only on my clients but also on myself!!
You see as I was researching and writing these new therapies I noticed that every day I was starting to change my own lifestyle and without making any effort I was starting to losing weight!!
I certainly was not dieting nor did I join the gym!!  I was not even thinking about it consciously. The changes just came naturally and everyone was starting to notice how different I was looking. People were commenting on how much weight I had lost.

So checking the scales I was surprised to find out that I had lost half a stone in 2 weeks and it stayed off!!  I was shocked as I was not even trying to lose weight, just living my life by these new lifestyle changes.

Then it occurred to me, as I was creating and reading these new therapies back to myself I had started to change my own thoughts and beliefs. These new beliefs helped make all of these unconscious changes to my own lifestyle. I realised that there was even more to long-term weight loss than I had considered. It was not just about food or exercise, it was about the way we thought and lived. My whole lifestyle changed almost overnight.
Suddenly it became clear why so many people were not able to lose weight or had lost weight and could not keep it off. They were holding the wrong thoughts about themselves and the whole idea of staying thin. It did not have to be painful or involve sweating in the gym. All I was doing was a daily walk and just making sure that I was staying active.
As I lost more weight I could see that it actually had less to do with food and exercise and a lot more to do with the thoughts I was holding. As we always make the changes to our thoughts first, you have to lose weight in your mind before you lose it in your body. The new therapies I was creating helped me to focus on several key areas of my life that I had not thought about for a while.

As I continued my work and research I realised that I had more and more energy and motivation to go out and do different things and achieve more. I was enthused to live a new lifestyle and I really wanted to stick to it.

Within a month I had lost over a stone!!

I was amazed as I had not been hungry, dieted or still set foot in a gym. All of the smaller changes that I had made to my mindset had set me off on a new path. I just wanted to live a healthy lifestyle now.

But here was the real surprise I maintained my new healthier weight and none of it went back on, I just stayed the same. I felt as though I had discovered some real long-term secrets to weight loss.

2. So what were the changes I made and how did it happen?
Ok first let me ask you a really important question about weight loss.
What is the same thing about every attempt you have ever made to lose weight and keep the weight off?
Is it Food? No, as we try fad diets
Is it Drink? No,
Is it Exercise? No, again we attempt the latest exercise craze time and time again and then give up.

I will tell you. The same thing about every diet and weight loss regime you have ever undertaken is…….YOU.
There is really only one reason why you have not made the permanent changes to your life that you would have liked. That reason is you, as you are still making the wrong choices and not living the correct lifestyle.
To make the changes, first, you have to change your unconscious beliefs about who you are, what you believe and how you can live every day.
It has to become a naturally unconscious way of life to lose weight, stay healthy and anyone can do it!!
Just imagine it like this. If you were attempting to learn a whole new language such as French and you decided to only spend 1 hour a week studying it. How long do you think it would take you to become fluent and conversational?  It would most likely take you a very long time and you would struggle to master it. But what if you actually went and lived in France, where you immersed yourself in the culture and lifestyle and everyone around spoke French. You would learn the language quicker and retain your ability to speak it as you were doing it every day.

The secret to long-term weight loss is the same as learning a new language. It is not something you practise, it is something you live. You have to immerse yourself in the lifestyle of a thinner and healthier person.
The truth of the matter is that anyone at any age can lose weight this way and keep it off. You just need to start living a different life and holding some new beliefs and thoughts about food and being active. But most of all you need to create and hold onto some new thoughts and beliefs around yourself.
These changes are not something that you can get from a weight loss club, attending the gym or just stopping eating your favourite foods for 8 weeks.
These changes have to be made in the mind and affect every area of your life.
This is something that will stay with you and enable you to feel great about yourself and who you are. It will help you build a positive body image and keep motivated. This will enable you to live a completely new lifestyle.
Now you may have noticed how I keep stressing the word lifestyle that is because going on a diet does not work!!!!! Diets can provide you with a quick fix and you may lose some weight, but you will then find this weight will quickly go back on, the minute you stop dieting or attending the gym.
In order to really be successful with your long-term weight loss, you need to make permanent changes. These changes you need to make are just very small ones, which will help you obtain you your longer-term goals.
It works the same as the aeroplane theory. If you were an aeroplane starting out on a journey, if you changed your course by 1 degree at the start you would end up in a totally different part of the world.
So you only have to make a handful of small changes to your life to end up at your ideal weight and stay that way forever.

3. So what stops us from losing weight?
Unfortunately, we do!!!  We are always the cause of all of our own issues, as we are in control of the choices and actions we take, we just choose to take the wrong ones.
Over the years we have programmed ourselves to do the wrong things, we tell ourselves the wrong stories and then we act upon them.
Have you ever noticed how an old belief or idea used to stop you doing something until you were told differently and then found that you could achieve what you wanted to? None of us gave up on talking or walking at an early age, did we? No, we gained a new belief that we could do it and suddenly our world changed.
You have to change the unconscious beliefs about who you are, what you believe and how you can live your life every day.
So after seeing the changes that my most successful weight loss client’s had made, I broke it down into 4 unconscious core principles. Then taking these core principles I devised 4 simple weight loss therapy sessions that help you to change your 4 principle unconscious principles and thoughts about losing weight.

4. The 4 unconscious principles that help us lose weight

Session 1: How you see yourself and your goals
Session 2: Making empowered choices every day
Session 3: Overcoming old beliefs and obtaining new thoughts
Session 4: Balancing and maintaining your new lifestyle
When you have these 4 unconscious principle beliefs working for you, you will find that you can start to live that healthy balanced new lifestyle.  But the changes have to be lasting and permanent, which is why you need to be living them consciously and unconsciously.
This is why those people who are unable to lose weight and attempt yo-yo dieting and fads make no long-term changes to their health and weight. They are not living the life of a thinner healthier person.

It does not actually matter what age you are or what your current weight is, making these changes will set you off on a new path that will give you the results that you want.

20% DISCOUNT ON ADDICTION AND PTSD THERAPY FOR THE ARMED FORCES COMMUNITY

Over the years I have worked with many people who have suffered from the effects of trauma and PTSD and I have been very proud to watch them gain resilience and recover. The work that I have done with military veterans has always held a special place for me.

So as a way of giving something back I will be reducing my fee for trauma or addiction work by 20% for any members of the Armed Forces community (Ex or current servicemen or woman)
My Father was an ex-serviceman and I have had many good friends over the years who have served their country in all branches of the forces.

We are fortunate in that we live in a time of relative peace and this peace is afforded us by those who serve in defence of our liberty and freedom.

Below is a brief explanation of PTSD and how I work alongside people to support them.

Post-traumatic stress disorder or (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder. It is caused by distressing, stressful or frightening events that have become stuck in a repetitive cycle within a person’s mind. Someone who has PTSD may often relieve a past traumatic event through a flashback or nightmare. The wider reaching implications of PTSD can be insomnia, isolation, anger, lack of concentration or an inability to function within work or social settings. It has also lead many people into self-destructive patterns of behaviour resulting in alcohol and drug addiction. If left untreated PTSD can lead to further enduring, long-term poor mental health issues.
Many believe PTSD is something that only military veterans suffer with after prolonged exposure to combat. But this is not the case as many people have visited me and been suffering from the symptoms of PTSD after a road accident, prolonged abuse (Physical, mental, or sexual) or a singular traumatic incident that has stayed with them.
The people who I have worked with over the years have found the effects of hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro linguistic programming) very effective for reducing and in many cases eliminating the effects of PTSD. Within my NLP therapies, I use a proven technique developed by Dr Richard Bandler, which safely disassociates those suffering from the effects of trauma and allows them to find a safe and relaxed place of calm. The work I conduct is very similar to EMDR and CBT, but gets to the root cause more effectively and is also effective as it is a deep healing therapy.
If you believe that you may be suffering from the effects of PTSD please call me for a confidential chat. My telephone consultations are completely free of charge.

The best and most shocking reaction I have ever had to telling someone I was a Life Coach.

Why would I go for a life Coaching session again?

We have all heard the term Life coach or Business coach, but have we ever considered what they do.

I was made to think about this last week when I was in the middle of Norwich and a business contact asked me for my mobile phone number. I gave her my business card and she read it with some fascination, as the card said Life Business Coaching and NLP practitioner on it.

Your and what!!!! she said and they do what again !!!!! she asked as if I had just stated that I was about to reverse who whole Brexit process single-handedly.

I was going to present the lady with a list of the usual things that I help people to achieve, such as: Finding it easier to make decisions when they feel stuck, improving motivation and confidence, help with careers choice and progression, even personal and relationship issues that affect our lives. But then I stopped and instead started to tell her about my most recent clients

My clients had moved to Norfolk and settled in Norwich. Not having many contacts they wanted to start their own business but were not sure where to begin. Feeling lost they Googled ( Life and Business coaching in Norwich and found my website.

They visited me and we began to discuss their lives and aspirations. After several sessions, they found some answers as to not only where they wanted to go with their life and new business venture, but also just how they were going to achieve it.

I helped them to find their inner resources and how to tap into their personal power and obtain the confidence and motivation, to take those first few steps.

Soon they were racing along their new life path and checking off goals as they went. On their last session, I asked them what they felt they had achieved. They looked at me and smiling said: Finding the ability to make a change and enjoying the freedom that it brings.

When I had finished telling the lady this story, she just looked at me and said “WOW, I totally get it, you help people to fix their own, we will change the word for the sake of this post to "STUFF"!!

Yes, I replied I help people to find ways to fix their own "STUFF" :)

It was sometime after when I was thinking about her last that the importance of explaining to someone just how you can help, is so much more important than explaining, what you do and how you do it.

If you would like help any area of your life, please call me for a telephone consultation on 07919102191

The right way to deal with PTSD and Trauma.

Please read this fascinating account of how one of my clients learned to deal with PTSD and in their own words “Kick its ass”

Hello. I have written this for anyone suffering out there. Don’t, as you do not have to. Please read what I have to say. I am no writer so excuse the way I talk, I just write as it comes.

I had not realised that the subconscious mind can store and hold onto painful memories and then bring them back at the worst and most unexpected moments. When I was much younger I had suffered abuse as a child and never spoke about it or attempted to deal with it. I buried it deep.

As a teenager, I was in a horrific accident that nearly took my life. My body healed, but my mind was forgotten about and the incident never discussed. People said it would be too painful for you to go over it again. So I buried it deep.

When I faced daily stress and anxiety in pressurised situations I was told to “get on with it” and talking was not encouraged. Once more I buried it, very deep.

Then tragedy struck and I had to deal with both loss and grief at the same time. The trauma of what I had born witness to was beyond compare. This time there was no burying it and sinking to my knees I could take no more. My mind strangely decided it was time to bring forward every painful experience from my childhood to present day all at once. I could function no longer and I kept having flashbacks at random times. I feared the worse and thought to myself, I actually cannot cope or go on.

A friend visited who said I should go for therapy. This went against everything I believed that I needed or had ever been suggested to me. At this stage, I would have tried anything. I found certain types of counselling difficult as I did not want to go over these things again, so I gave up.

So I decided to do my own research. In a library, I found a book by a man called Richard Bandler.  I read bits about how we think and getting over things, but I could not make sense of it. I knew what he said was right, but I could not make it work. Throwing the book down, I gave up.

Then I spotted a web post about PTSD and NLP and it occurred to me that other people used this as a therapy to help others.  This made sense that I need to visit a professional who could help. I phoned up a chap, who seemed to know his stuff and booked in. That is when I made the breakthrough. I say I made the breakthrough as this is what he taught me, we often rely on others to take stuff away from us. We need to do it for ourselves. He talked and listened in a different way and I found if I saw my world differently then I could safely view all of those elements of my life, even the bad ones. I knew they were part of something bigger, my pathway and journey. 2 sessions in and the anxiety and trauma stopped. We did something called double dissociation and pattern disruptions. I realised that whenever I hear a car door shut or I heard something else loud it would trigger memories and bring stuff back.

I could see the sessions were doing me good and I was becoming happy to return to my old life. I held on to positive anchors and really felt I could on.  By the fourth session,  I felt I had all the skills I needed to kick this things ass now. I read some more books and practised all the NLP techniques I had been taught.

I urge everyone out there to get out, buy a book, find a therapist that knows this stuff. I have got my life back and I am forever grateful. Go kick the ass of whatever is bothering you :)

The Key to succeeding in anything. Why it really is time to change and find your Authentic Self

I have recently been working with a client who has had a debilitating issue regarding social and work relationships. It had become so acute that it was starting to destroy the whole fabric of her life to such a degree that she had stopped socialising or communicating with others. She had developed a fear that this issue would take hold and she would act upon her compulsions. A friend who she confided in, was currently visiting me for confidence coaching suggested that she come and see me. Her friend was aware that I also work with people who suffer from stress anxiety and other issues such as addiction and compulsion.

After talking to the lady for a short while it became apparent that this compulsion within her had not come from any traumatic or emotional past event. She had led a successful and happy life and been brought up in a happy and loving family. She was in every sense of the world a successful lady, except for this one area of her life that was starting to become all-consuming. We worked through some NLP techniques and then regressed her through hypnotherapy to a time before she had this issue. After coming out of the trance, she suddenly had a revelation of something that she had been said to her by an ex-partner on a frequent bases. What they had said had not been negative or disparaging, but they always said the same thing during a time when she was in a high state of emotional awareness. Unfortunately, this repetition of words had created what is known in therapeutic terms as a "negative anchor" and something had recently triggered this within her causing her to have a very controlling negative self-belief around her emotions and subsequent actions.

On discovering this it was a very easy matter of creating some new beliefs and destroying or collapsing the old belief. Also, the realisation of where it had all started also played a major role in helping her.  My client changed instantly and was amazed by how something so simple could have been causing her to have such a strong compulsion to act so strongly out of character.

This started me thinking about just how controlled we often our by the words and images that unconsciously hit our senses. These images and beliefs then become embedded within our thought process and then start to shape who we are, by distorting our beliefs.

Just stop and think about the amount of input that goes into your brain each day, most of which you are not even aware of. Also, consider those strong influences and voices from your early years that formed your opinions of the world around you and how you believe that you should act and behave within it. Its no wonder that when we hear something negative about our self that may have been reinforced from a young age, that we start to believe it and act in a way that is not authentic.

Just imagine for a moment that you could take yourself back to a very young age before the world got to you. A time before you had not taken on board any negative or distorted thinking that was given to you by parents, family, friends, television and the all-encompassing and damaging social media.  Now without all of those negative and distorted beliefs consider what are your thoughts on yourself? You might not actually have even formed any yet, but as a young child seen something that really appealed to you and thought. I want to do that and be like him or her? Was this dream then supported or were you told something like "don't be stupid, you cant do that"  causing the very young you to give up, lower your head and conform to a life of mediocrity.

But what if you could go back now and go completely clear on these thoughts. Or better still imagine if you received positive thoughts on yourself and your dreams had been supported and encouraged. How would this have shaped you and your life? Or would you have discovered who you really are and meant to be, it's such a powerful and empowering question. Ask yourself a better quality of question and get a better quality of answer. For example, what do you really like and what do you want to do with your life?

The good news is that no matter what age you are it's not to late to still hold these thoughts. I once worked with a victim of childhood abuse who very much came to terms with their abusive past and was actually able to re-frame the most traumatic period of their childhood. I will always remember they said to me in the last session. "It's not to late to have had a happy childhood, no matter how old you are".

Have you ever been away from a negative person either at work, home or in a relationship and suddenly noticed that you start to do different things and hold new thoughts and beliefs about yourself; its almost as if you have been reborn.

I always remember sitting down many years ago and watching an episode of Dr Who with my son. It was the first episode that David Tennent stared in and he had regenerated but not sure who he was yet. At one point someone asked him "Who are you" and he replied. "I don't know yet" he then went into a whole list of possibilities of who he could possibly be, considering each one he liked and dismissing those he did not. A few minutes later he committed a spontaneous defensive act that saw the evil alien leader plummet to Earth from his ship, he then declared "No second chances, that's who I am" We should be shaped by our true feelings and responses that are of our own creation and choosing, not those that are fed to us from others.

So maybe its time that we all looked to regenerate and start finding our authentic self again. Finding and discovering the person who we were all really born to be. The person who has not had a lifetime of negative sounds and images piled upon them and attempted to gloss over these. Its time to reach down, wipe off the negativity and find out who we really are. Why not start this pathway by unplugging from all of the negative people and elements in your life. Give yourself a week away from the negative elements of social media, the negative thoughts of others and start to rediscover your authentic self.

Then make a list of those true qualities that you believe that you hold and how you could use them to them in the best possible way to pursue your dreams and purpose.

You will be amazed at the power that this will give to start truly believing in yourself, growing and fully developing into the person you were born to be.

Get over any Fear and reduce anxiety instantly.

There is brand new research from MIT university in America that proves that anyone can overcome any fear and reduce anxiety in an instant.

It is actually nothing new and I have been teaching it to coaching and hypnotherapy clients for years as all of our fears really all come down to one thing!

In life when you get up and go out you usually have a general expectation of what is going to happen. You drive the same route, meet the same people and do the same job. However, within each day, you can't specifically know and plot every minute of your day and this is where fear creeps in.

Let me explain further. Imagine you are a work and suddenly you are called into a meeting with your whole team. No one has any idea of what is about to happen or why you are there. The Head of the department walks in with the finance manager and the CEO. They tell you all to take a seat and that they have a very important message and they won't keep you long.

Now be honest if this happened how many of you would be thinking, "wow this is exciting, its bound to be brilliant news". I can't wait to hear how this is going to alter and enrich my life in a positive way? No, what you will actually do is think the worst and fear for your job. This is because everyone's fears are all rooted in one thing, the unknown!!. No matter what you are scared of I guarantee that what is actually scaring you is not knowing what is going to happen in any given circumstance or event and we find that quite terrifying.

Now the problem is that fear is a real killer, it kills opportunities, relationships, potential sales, moral and all of your life chances. For when we become gripped by fear, we become inactive and do nothing rather than face a fear of an unknown future.

However, there is a really simple and easy solution that will flip any fear on its head in an instant.
Have you ever acted out of total certainty, done something that you were sure was going to work out and carried it through with total confidence? Of course, you have, as most of the things that we do each day have a level of certainty about them. Certainty is one of the human givens and without it, we would probably just lay in bed all day watching telly fearing that anything we did would result in a tragic circumstance. We get up, get dressed walk to the shops, go to work, eat, drive all because we are reasonably certain that we will get a positive outcome. So you could say that our confidence comes from us being secure in all the facts and us holding a belief in a positive outcome of our actions. We even become so good at this that we don't even think about most activities and just act unconsciously knowing that putting one foot in front of the other will get us where we want to go.

So why do we have fears? well, this is when our unconscious mind focuses on uncertainties with any future outcomes that we plan. Sometimes this is good an protects us, but a lot of the time it just keeps holding us back. Now while we need a level of fear to keep us safe, as a society we have become massively over cautious and see fears everywhere and create ones that do not exist, just to prevent us from taking action. We have become risk-averse and it is making us more and more anxious to take those bolder actions that will often bring us all the rewards in life.

That said its actually a really simple to overcome any fear and it only takes 2 steps. 1 something that I call fearless planning and 2 possibly the biggest issue that everyone has, which is taking action!!!!!

Now if we choose to plan something out and seeing it going well as appose to us failing, we are going to start believing that we could make it happen and not only succeed in our action but also enjoy the activity which we once found scary. Go ahead think of something that you would really like to do, that you have previously been too scared to do and see it going really well. Just see the event happening, see yourself succeeding at this and then see the event happening through your own eyes. It feels different now doesn't it. What you have just done is started to reprogram your brain to be confident in a way that it never was before. We have created a whole new neural pathway and your unconscious will hang on to this.

That done, now you need to take action. Just make any small step towards whatever it was that you previously feared, but whatever you do take action. Now here is the real secret to beating your fears. Your brain can only focus on one thing at a time, so when you start to take action and focus on the event, you can't actually be scared of it anymore as you are not focusing on it. To be scared of something you have to actually consciously think of being scared of it,  once you are consciously in the act of doing, you cannot be scared as your conscious action reduces the fear. Just think back to the first time that you got behind the wheel of a car or walked across a room to talk to a member of the opposite sex you liked. As soon as you started changing gears, looking for other cars or engaged a person in conversation so stopped being scared as you were focusing on the event, not your fears. Always remember risk and danger is real, but fear is something you create in your own head.

So the next time you really want something in life, whatever it just sees it going well and then take action.

Jason
