When you have finished reading this post, please give it a like and a share, as it may save someone vulnerable from being taken advantage off or worse.
In the last 24 hours, I have had 2 major concerns within the therapeutic community. The first was when I was contacted by a young lady who asked me how many sessions she would need to help her with a nail-biting habit. I informed her this would take only 1 session, or 2 if I found any underlying issues within the first session. She then informed me that another therapist told her that she would need between 3 and 6 sessions. They told her this without even meeting with her!!! I offer a weight loss package that deals with all arear`s of health, weight loss, motivation and that is only 4 sessions.
The second concern came about when someone who required very specialist help was faced with a bewildering array of therapists all offering their services to deal with a specific concern. Many of the theses therapists would have lacked the required care and clinical background to help and support this person with the required changes.
Several weeks ago I put up a post outlining the good qualities that you should be looking for within a therapist and over 3000 people within the Norfolk area read it alone. I think that it is again worth going over some of the things you should be looking for when hiring any kind of therapist.
1. Quality of their training. I was lucky and trained under the most qualified person within the county. The training that I received was over 12 months and I have to face a vetting process before they would even take me on. I had standards of excellence to achieve and reach. I had papers to submit and a constant appraisal of my skills through live sessions, best practise groups and cases. Before I could practise I had to have all of my written case notes, standards and learnings presented and passed before a governing body. I also had to present and pass a live session with 2 assessors. I am not ashamed to admit that was daunting and not everyone was successful. So please be aware of those who have a certificate that was obtained in a very short time.
2. Background. Now not everyone can have a medical or clinical background and for certain issues that may not always be necessary. But please be aware when dealing with the subconscious mind, you are dealing with that part of your brain that carry’s all of your memories both good and bad and for the inexperienced, it is a psychological minefield. I have a 10-year background within the clinical world, care and mental health and I was fortunate to receive excellent mental health training to conduct this work. I pride myself on good clinical excellence and being able to deal with more challenging psychological concerns.
3. Professional approach to their work. I often hear strange tales from people telling me that therapists have asked then to meet them in out of area locations, not even working where they claim. Or when they have arrived, the therapy was conducted in a lean too; a friends bedroom and someone told me they have visited therapists who work from an outdoor shed!!! Therapy is all about feeling relaxed and opening up your mind. To do this, you need to feel comfortable and relaxed and know that someone`s dog or family member is not going to walk in halfway through the session. I have a dedicated therapy area that is warm, comfortable and relaxing. It is within a safe location and there is safe off road parking. I choose the location, so people could leave and attend discreetly and feel calm and relaxed within the session. I also work within the area that I advertise on my website. 4. Ethical standards. Within my first ever therapy lesson, I was taught one thing that has always remained with me “Do, no harm” Therapy is not just about qualifications, it is also about adopting the correct attitude to those who choose to come and visit me. It is about caring for those who need help, ensuring they are provided with the correct therapy and putting their emotional and mental health first. I always end my therapy sessions with my clients by asking them if they felt the session was of value and if they “wish” they can choose to return.
I have never told anyone that they will “Need” 4 -6 sessions and I always warn anyone please be aware of who tells you that you do. If I see someone and they feel that 1 or 2 sessions were all it took, I could not be happier. If anyone ever tells you that you need numerous sessions without having met you and conducted a session, I would love to know how they are aware that this many sessions are required. I do offer packages such as weight loss as this is a major area of our lives and it is never about food so there will be more than one area to work on. Smoking can be stopped within a 90 minutes session. Recently I did two 60 minute sessions for a client which effectively allowed them to reduce their stress and anxiety levels so they were able to return to work. It did not take 6 or 8 sessions. Any therapist that conducts more sessions than is necessary is working out of integrity.
So if you are thinking of using any therapist, please check the above areas and ensure they offer a free consultation and do not charge you for this as part of your therapy, consultations are free. Also, make sure they have good referrals and have a solid background within the area you require.

I have just had one of the most incredible emails ever from one of my first every Hypnotherapy clients.
In the email, he reminded me that he came to see me nearly 10 years go to help him stop smoking. After a 90-minute hypnotherapy session with me, he stopped and never started again.
But what is even more incredible is that he calculated that in the last 10 years he saved over £27,000!!!!!!!!!
Even I was blown away by this £27,000, that is an absolutely staggering figure. I often talk to people about the cost of cigarettes to their health and wallet and I do a rough calculation, but this guy had really done the maths. He told me that the figures were correct as he put the money away and saved it in a separate account. He actually just set up another account and had the money filter in each month. He was smoking between 25-30 cigarettes a day and when he came to see me, it was starting to affect his health. He recalled that when he met me that he was not that bothered at the time about the financial saving. His focus was on still being around for his wife and children in 10 years and after giving up he is still here and much the richer as well.
So how do I help people to stop? Most of the time we will never give up something negative as we do not fear the consequences of it. We feel that it is too far away, so we do not bother about what will happen if we carry on smoking or not taking care of our health. This will then cause a huge lack of motivation on our behalf, as we may hold the thought “Yes I might get cancer, but that will be when I am old”. As you can see, here lays one of the main reasons for not stopping smoking. The negative consequences are just not a reality for you.
Now in life we are controlled by two emotions (Please and pain) we move towards those things that we perceive are pleasurable and away from those things that we perceive as painful. So when a negative thought about smoking rears its head, we either ignore it or shout it down. We also cannot even entertain a positive thought about stopping smoking either so people become stuck, not able to move forwards or backwards and then see continuing to smoke as the only answer. Some people may attempt a substitute (Vaping anyone) but this always just leads back to smoking.
The reason I have such a high and long-lasting success rate is that I use a powerful therapy technique where I take your conscious and subconscious brain to those places you do not always want to venture. Now that may sound a little daunting, but with smoking, you have very few alternatives. As another successful client once said to me, it should say on your webpage “If you come and see me, you are going to change”
Within my non-smoking package, I offer people a chance to see and live the alternatives and this has a huge effect on the mind and the decision-making process. If you actually knew and felt how good it was to give up smoking or lose weight, you would start to do everything you could to move towards that new you. Have you ever worked hard on something and started to see and feel the difference and it really spurred you on to keep going? That is the effect that I gave you within my one hypnotherapy sessions. I help to create those positive emotions and bring the reality of being a non-smoker into your conscious brain. So Instead of being controlled by pleasure and pain, I help people to make them work for them so they can take back control of their minds and their lives.
Just to end this blog, as a point of interest I have just been on a calculation site that shows how much you can save if you stopped smoking today.
If you smoke between 20 and 25 cigarettes a day and you gave up today in 10 years you would save around £54,750!!!!!! (UK GOV Source) You may have your reasons to carry on, but I can think of 54,750 reasons to stop.
Always remember 10 years may seem a long way off, but in 1999 so did 2019. You will get to 2029, and wouldn’t it be better to get there with a healthy body and an extra £54,000

Is this going to finally be the year you make those lasting weight loss changes? 
Last year I set a goal for myself. I wanted to lose enough body fat to be able to see my Ab muscles. I had never achieved this my whole life and I wanted to achieve it before I was 49.
But in just 8 Weeks I totally transformed my body!!! I did it all without going to the gym, running or taking any special pills, drinks or magic beans. Why you can not fail to lose weight if you just do these two things.

Successfully losing weight is only ever about doing 2 things that everyone can easily achieve and I am about to reveal the great secret to weight loss in just one paragraph. I will then tell you why you never stick to it and then I will show you how you can.
Many years ago Paul Mckenna (You may have heard of him) wrote a book called “Change your life in 7 days”. Within the book, he told you how to change many areas of your life with one noticeable exception, weight loss!! He only wrote one line regarding how to lose weight and I have always remembered it. “If you want to lose weight eat less and move around more” Now he actually could have stopped there, but what he did was go on to write 3 more books on weight loss. The reason he could have stopped there is that is all you ever need to do if you want to lose weight. The secret is just eating less than you normally would and become more active than you usually are!! Now if you do this over a sustained period of time, I guarantee that the weight will fall off. In a nutshell, that is it that is all you need to do. It does not matter, what you eat or drink or what kind of exercise that you do if you are burning more calories up than you are putting in, you will lose weight. There you go the easiest no-fail weight loss method in the world, Ta Da simple yes?. Well no not really because there is a problem isn’t there?
The problems are we don’t stick to just eating less and moving around more until we have lost the weight we need to and that is because of just one thing. The thoughts and beliefs that you hold around eating less and being more active keep getting in the way, don’t they? If our thoughts and attached beliefs did not stop us, then everyone would just be really healthy and super fit.
Let me paint a picture for you. Everyone who has ever attempted to lose weight will be familiar with this story. You start off with good intentions to lose weight, you clear out the cupboards, fill it with low-calorie healthy food, join a gym or a weight loss club, start a new activity. You may then goal set and feel really great and what happens yes amazingly you lose weight. You are on a high and do so well for those first few days/ weeks and lose several pounds, but then something happens, doesn’t it?
It usually goes like this, you might have a bad day, or you get on the scales and you don’t get the results you want. Or the weekend arrives and you go out and eat and drink too much. You tell yourself “I have to treat myself because it’s the weekend”, Or maybe you have a bad day at work, or you have an argument with a partner. Then your children, pets, friends, the news makes you stressed and then you see an advert for your favourite food on special offer at the supermarket. Basically, any one of a million things can come knocking at your door. Then very soon you are back to where you started and you start to fall back onto one of your old thoughts such as “Well I just love food, I guess”, or “my parents were both big so it’s in my genes”, or “I am too old now to lose weight”. Or you may even fall back on my old personal favourite, “I have tried everything and nothing ever works for me”.
So here is the real problem, life and the way you choose to respond to it. Not food or drink or being active, but life. Life and events just happen and we respond with negative thoughts and then beliefs. But these thoughts are nothing but, lies lies and more damn lies. Now I am not saying that these experiences are not true for you, but the main thing that prevents you from losing weight is what you choose to tell yourself and the beliefs that you hold around yourself and weight loss.
But it is ok as I have developed a really simple and easy idea that will stop all of this. It takes quite a bit of practice, but it will definitely work. OK here goes; you just need to……Stop thinking! There, really simple, eat less, move around more and stop having all and every negative thought around food and drink and being more active. There is a slight problem though, have you ever tried to just not think at all? There are thousands of thoughts going around your brain each and every day. Now while some people can reach an incredible state of calm through meditation where they totally clear their mind, you cannot always hold onto that state all day. So maybe this idea is not that practical after all.
However, we are on the right lines here to achieving long-term weight loss. Because the real secret to long-term weight loss is actually about taking control of your thoughts and then challenging them and the beliefs attached to them. This may sound difficult, but it is so much easier than you “think!” You see we often spend so much of our time with our thoughts projected into the future or stuck in the past, that we fail to stay in the moment and connect with our current thinking. Within his book the “Power of now”, Eckhart Tolle writes about how we can all achieve much more happiness if we keep our thoughts focused on the moment. As when we keep our thoughts out of the past and future, we realise that we don’t actually have any problems in the present second. This is the same for weight loss unless we take full control of our thoughts we are very much at the mercy of our perceived past failures and our future anxieties of failing again. Now, this is actually what demotivates us and drives us back to our old beliefs and habits.
So how do we achieve this, well we are all hardwired from our early years with unconscious beliefs that we pick up from parents, teachers, television and these days social media. Now, these negative beliefs will come out through our thoughts and we respond to them with negative behaviour. So the first thing that we need to do is stop and listen to the thoughts that we are having. You see we never stop and think about our thoughts, but the minute we do this things start to change. As when we focus on a thought, we become aware of it and then it becomes a conscious thought. When the thought moves to our consciousness, we can then start to examine and challenge it and when we do this we actually start to destabilise the belief. For example, we might say to ourselves, “Walking for 30 minutes will not burn off enough calories to make a difference. You need to work out in a gym every day for an hour to see any difference and I am really tired after working all day”, but what if we flipped that belief? With “Well sitting down for an additional 30 minutes will certainly burn even less”. Or how about “A 30 minute walk will build up my energy levels so I will find it easier to walk 30 minutes tomorrow as well, then by the end of the week I will have done an extra 2 and a half hours exercise and that will make a difference” Notice the difference in the internal communication and how it starts to shake the belief system. Every time you get a negative thought around food or drink or being active you have to stop and notice the words, make them conscious and bring up the opposite thought to flip it.
For a long time now I have noticed that the work that I have been doing with people to help them lose weight or stop smoking always comes to rewiring the false beliefs that they are carrying around. I also then help people through hypnosis to become more consciously aware of the thoughts. These days I can always spot when someone who I have been working with has shaken off their old beliefs as they become so much happier and are managing to keep their thoughts in the present moment.
I know that some people will still turn to special diets, or become addicted to weight loss clubs and the low-calorie foods being pushed. The other day on Facebook someone was actually selling “Magic Beans”, that promised to do all sorts of incredible things including helping you lose weight!!
But always remember the simplest and easiest method of losing weight long term really is and always will be eating less and moving around more. If you do this, you cannot fail to lose weight. So the next time you are about to make a poor decision around food or drink and why or how it can’t be done, challenge your thoughts and ask whose beliefs or influences are you acting under.

How I discovered the real secret to long-term weight loss. It`s not about going on a diet or to the gym.

As a weight loss therapist, I always focus on what is effective and actually works to help people achieve their weight loss goals. So when I set out to create some brand new weight loss therapies. I wanted to create something which would actively promote easy and long-term weight loss. I decided to look at the bigger picture and focus on those who lost weight easily and kept it off.  This would not be not short-term weight loss where people would lose a few pounds and put it back on in a month.
I first noticed that my most successful weight loss clients were the ones who made small lasting changes. These clients saw the changes as a new lifestyle and not just a temporary fix or going on a diet. They were the people who wanted to change their lives and not just drop a few pounds before they went on holiday.  
Quite simply they did not see weight loss as a quick fix but approached it with a view to making a long-term and lasting change.
So I set about writing this brand new weight loss system based on my most successful client's experiences that had lost weight after visiting me. What I discovered was quite incredible and had a lasting effect, but not only on my clients but also on myself!!   
You see as I was researching and writing these new therapies I noticed that every day I was starting to change my own lifestyle and without making any effort I was starting to losing weight!!
 I certainly was not dieting nor did I join the gym!!  I was not even thinking about it consciously. The changes just came naturally and everyone was starting to notice how different I was looking. People were commenting on how much weight I had lost.   

So checking the scales I was surprised to find out that I had lost half a stone in 2 weeks and it stayed off!!  I was shocked as I was not even trying to lose weight, just living my life by these new lifestyle changes.

Then it occurred to me, as I was creating and reading these new therapies back to myself I had started to change my own thoughts and beliefs. These new beliefs helped make all of these unconscious changes to my own lifestyle. I realised that there was even more to long-term weight loss than I had considered. It was not just about food or exercise, it was about the way we thought and lived. My whole lifestyle changed almost overnight.
Suddenly it became clear why so many people were not able to lose weight or had lost weight and could not keep it off. They were holding the wrong thoughts about themselves and the whole idea of staying thin. It did not have to be painful or involve sweating in the gym. All I was doing was a daily walk and just making sure that I was staying active.
As I lost more weight I could see that it actually had less to do with food and exercise and a lot more to do with the thoughts I was holding. As we always make the changes to our thoughts first, you have to lose weight in your mind before you lose it in your body. The new therapies I was creating helped me to focus on several key areas of my life that I had not thought about for a while.

As I continued my work and research I realised that I had more and more energy and motivation to go out and do different things and achieve more. I was enthused to live a new lifestyle and I really wanted to stick to it.

Within a month I had lost over a stone!!

I was amazed as I had not been hungry, dieted or still set foot in a gym. All of the smaller changes that I had made to my mindset had set me off on a new path. I just wanted to live a healthy lifestyle now.

But here was the real surprise I maintained my new healthier weight and none of it went back on, I just stayed the same. I felt as though I had discovered some real long-term secrets to weight loss.

2. So what were the changes I made and how did it happen?
Ok first let me ask you a really important question about weight loss.
What is the same thing about every attempt you have ever made to lose weight and keep the weight off?
Is it Food? No, as we try fad diets
Is it Drink? No,
Is it Exercise? No, again we attempt the latest exercise craze time and time again and then give up.

I will tell you. The same thing about every diet and weight loss regime you have ever undertaken is…….YOU.
There is really only one reason why you have not made the permanent changes to your life that you would have liked. That reason is you, as you are still making the wrong choices and not living the correct lifestyle.
To make the changes, first, you have to change your unconscious beliefs about who you are, what you believe and how you can live every day.
It has to become a naturally unconscious way of life to lose weight, stay healthy and anyone can do it!!
Just imagine it like this. If you were attempting to learn a whole new language such as French and you decided to only spend 1 hour a week studying it. How long do you think it would take you to become fluent and conversational?  It would most likely take you a very long time and you would struggle to master it. But what if you actually went and lived in France, where you immersed yourself in the culture and lifestyle and everyone around spoke French. You would learn the language quicker and retain your ability to speak it as you were doing it every day.

The secret to long-term weight loss is the same as learning a new language. It is not something you practise, it is something you live. You have to immerse yourself in the lifestyle of a thinner and healthier person. 
The truth of the matter is that anyone at any age can lose weight this way and keep it off. You just need to start living a different life and holding some new beliefs and thoughts about food and being active. But most of all you need to create and hold onto some new thoughts and beliefs around yourself.
These changes are not something that you can get from a weight loss club, attending the gym or just stopping eating your favourite foods for 8 weeks.
These changes have to be made in the mind and affect every area of your life.
This is something that will stay with you and enable you to feel great about yourself and who you are. It will help you build a positive body image and keep motivated. This will enable you to live a completely new lifestyle.
Now you may have noticed how I keep stressing the word lifestyle that is because going on a diet does not work!!!!! Diets can provide you with a quick fix and you may lose some weight, but you will then find this weight will quickly go back on, the minute you stop dieting or attending the gym.
In order to really be successful with your long-term weight loss, you need to make permanent changes. These changes you need to make are just very small ones, which will help you obtain you your longer-term goals.
It works the same as the aeroplane theory. If you were an aeroplane starting out on a journey, if you changed your course by 1 degree at the start you would end up in a totally different part of the world.
So you only have to make a handful of small changes to your life to end up at your ideal weight and stay that way forever.  

3. So what stops us from losing weight?
Unfortunately, we do!!!  We are always the cause of all of our own issues, as we are in control of the choices and actions we take, we just choose to take the wrong ones.
Over the years we have programmed ourselves to do the wrong things, we tell ourselves the wrong stories and then we act upon them.
Have you ever noticed how an old belief or idea used to stop you doing something until you were told differently and then found that you could achieve what you wanted to? None of us gave up on talking or walking at an early age, did we? No, we gained a new belief that we could do it and suddenly our world changed.
You have to change the unconscious beliefs about who you are, what you believe and how you can live your life every day.
So after seeing the changes that my most successful weight loss client’s had made, I broke it down into 4 unconscious core principles. Then taking these core principles I devised 4 simple weight loss therapy sessions that help you to change your 4 principle unconscious principles and thoughts about losing weight.

4. The 4 unconscious principles that help us lose weight

 Session 1: How you see yourself and your goals
 Session 2: Making empowered choices every day
 Session 3: Overcoming old beliefs and obtaining new thoughts
 Session 4: Balancing and maintaining your new lifestyle
When you have these 4 unconscious principle beliefs working for you, you will find that you can start to live that healthy balanced new lifestyle.  But the changes have to be lasting and permanent, which is why you need to be living them consciously and unconsciously.
This is why those people who are unable to lose weight and attempt yo-yo dieting and fads make no long-term changes to their health and weight. They are not living the life of a thinner healthier person.

It does not actually matter what age you are or what your current weight is, making these changes will set you off on a new path that will give you the results that you want.
